Dwight purchased his 17" reflector telescope around 1982, while living in
Christiansburg, VA. He built his own observatory and used golf balls in wooden
tracks to rotate the dome. When Dwight moved to the Middleburg area he built a
shed that rolled away on castors on rubber mat tracks to house the scope. In
2005 we donated the scope to Dr. Harold Geller, Department of Physics and
Astronomy at George Mason University. Dr. Geller and Dick Turner (of Turner
Framing Company) went out to Middleburg together to get the scope. Students at
George Mason are in the process of building a new mount for the scope.
